The Gap Theory and Associated Fall of Satan from Heaven

In Part 1, I presented the history of the Gap Theory. In Part 2 I presented the two basic Scriptures that are used to make the linguistic biblical case for its validity. Basically, the Gap Theory advocates that Satan was created by God as an Archangel and placed over the material universe as its prince and protector, with countless number of angels under his authority to facilitate the tasks of the commission he had received from God. But Satan rebelled against the authority of his maker, and caused one-third of the angels to follow him in his rebellion, and they also fell from favor with their creator. I believe this rebellion occurred between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2, and changed God’s original creation of the earth in verse 1 to the desolate waste found in verse 2.
Genesis 1:1,2 – In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. [2] And the earth was (became) without form (tohu), and void (bohu); and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Our understanding of time, as finite human beings, is really incapable of grasping time as God views it. Peter alludes to this principle in his second epistle.
II Peter 3:8-12 – But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. [9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
I believe that perhaps as long a period of time as six billion years passed between Genesis 1:1 and 1:3, and that the verses from 1:3 onwards are a restoring, a reconstruction, a reshaping, a remolding of God’s original creation, which was marred by the fall of Satan. I do not believe man ever existed upon the earth until the sixth day of the restoring of the earth by its creator. I believe Genesis 2:7 occurred on the sixth day of the remolding of God’s first creation.
Genesis 2:7 – And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
I believe one of the reasons God created man was to place him over the creation he had assigned Satan as prince before his sin against God. But Adam also sinned, and lost his position as ruler over the creation.
God then immediately advised Adam and Eve that he would one day send a Seed from their lineage to crush the power of the prince of this world, Satan, and thereby restore man as its ruler. Jesus was that Seed.
Genesis 3:15 – And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Christ came as that Seed possessing power over Satan and all his fallen angels, which are now also identified as devils or demons. Christ, as the pre-incarnate Son of God, saw Satan when he first fell billions of years ago.
Luke 10:18 – And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
When Satan fell, about one-third of the angels fell from heaven with him as his followers. A falling star looks like a long bolt of lightning coming down from the heavens, and the stars of Revelation 12:4 represent all the angels that fell to the earth long ago with the Dragon, who is Satan.
Satan fell from heaven billions of years before the Seed arrived in the manger in Bethlehem, but patiently waited for the Seed’s arrival in the flesh, hoping to destroy him and keep his kingdom. But the Seed grew to manhood, was crucified for our sins, and is now the intercessor for all who put their faith in him for the salvation of their souls. Satan fell long ago with one-third of the angelic host, but failed to destroy the Christ child, who is now in heaven with all the power of God.
Revelation 12:4,5 – And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. [5] And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
Christ judged the prince of this world, and Satan was found wanting, and the power he held over men through the threat of death was broken by the Seed, who stepped on the serpent’s head and broke his power. But in so doing, the Seed’s heel, which walked upon earth to redeem man, was more than bruised at Golgotha.
Isaiah 53:5 – But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
But the Seed’s death passed judgment on Satan, and this world over which Satan was prince, and now the power of the Holy Spirit draws men to the resurrected Seed through the preaching of the cross.
The purpose of this Update is two fold – (1) To offer some ideas in support of a hypothesis concerning the sin that transformed the angelic being Lucifer into the angelic adversary known today as Satan, the Devil, the Dragon, and the old serpent, plus (2) To supplement the “Gap Theory” of Dr. Thomas Chalmers as a possible explanation of the numerous species of life known to have inhabited the earth over a very long period of time. I am in agreement with Dr. Chalmers linguistic claim that Genesis 1:1 does indeed represent God’s original creation of perfect heavens and a perfect earth, while Genesis 1:2a represents the chaotic condition of that initial creation brought about by Satan’s first sin of rebellion against his creator, and that Genesis 1:2b begins the description of God renovating or regenerating the chaotic earth into a habitable planet, one which would support biological needs of his new creation known as Adam, the first human on its surface.
Genesis 1:1,2 – In the beginning God created (bara’) the heaven and the earth. [2] And the earth was (hayethah – became) without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Moses uses the word bara’ to indicate God created the heavens and earth from things that are not seen.
Hebrews 11:3 – Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
But in the re-creating or renovation of the bara’ of Genesis 1:1, when God begins the process of restoring it, he indicates he is making (asah’) visible things from his first bara’, which he created from unseen things.
Genesis 1:7 – And God made (‘asah) the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
Genesis 1:16 – And God made (‘asah) two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made (‘asah) the stars also.
‘Asah’ means to make from what is seen. Bara’ is often used to identify what is made from things that cannot be seen. God made (‘asah) the sun, moon, and stars from what he had already created (bara’) in 1:1.
In Exodus 20:11 he uses ‘asah, rather than bara’, because he is referring to remaking (‘asah) the earth in six days out of what had been marred in what he created (bara’) billions of years before the fall of Satan.
Exodus 20:11 – For in six days the Lord made (‘asah) heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Vine’s says the following concerning created (bara’) as it relates to made (‘asah): “The verb bara’ is of profound theological significance, since it has only God as its subject. Only God can create in the sense implied by bara’: The verb expresses creation out of nothing on a cosmic scale: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
In Genesis 2:3, referring back to Genesis 1:1 where God first created (bara’) the earth, then made (‘asah) the things of verses 4 to 17 out of what he had previously created, we find the two words used together.
Genesis 2:3 – And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created (bara’) and made (asah’).
I believe God created (bara’) the heavens and the earth billions of years ago, and Lucifer was placed over it. I do not know how much time passed before Lucifer fell. I do know God rested on the seventh day after he made (asah’) it such than man could exist on the earth.
One must be careful to explain that there is not a concrete, infallible rule for distinguishing precise bara’ and ‘asah differences in all cases, and the exact differences between the usages of bara’ and ‘asha in all sentence structures does have some variance. But the context in which they are placed in Genesis 1:1 to 1:17, does allow the distinction to be made.
The basic hypothesis that I offer concerning Satan’s sin against God that caused the earth to become without form and void is as follows:
That Lucifer’s original sin was to attempt to create a living form of “bios” (life) by his own power.
That most, if not all, creatures possessing “bios” (life) in the time gap between Genesis 1:1, and the latter part of 1:2, were Satanic clones of the life forms God placed on the earth in Genesis 1:1.
That Satan’s basic purpose in his numerous forms of cloning “bios” (life) over millions of years was to produce a form of “bios” into which he could transfer his spirit, and sustain “zoe” (eternal life) in his cloned creature.
That Satan was finally able to clone an inferior non-homosapien form of “bios” without a living soul, but could not generate “zoe” into it.
Perhaps the most graphic description of Lucifer’s sin is contained in Isaiah 14:12-15 – How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! [13] For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: [14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. [15] Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
I Timothy 3:6 – Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
Verses 13 and 14 from Isaiah, in conjunction with I Timothy 3:6, reveal the basic problem of Lucifer, pride, and is what his sin of rebellion most likely entailed. In his pride Lucifer wanted to be the most High, not in a position of being his servant, but being equal to him. So how could it be brought to pass? There is one thing about God that is absolutely unique – He is the creator all things, yet he was not created. Before Lucifer’s sin there were only two categories of existence or being – The Creator, and the created. The most High was the Creator and everything else was what he had created. In order for Lucifer to fulfill the prideful goal of his heart expressed by his statement, “I will be like the most High,” it was necessary for him to move into the Creator status that only God held. For only by moving into the Creator status could he have any possibility of reaching his lofty goal of being “like the most High.” It is with this idea I proceed with the hypothesis that Satan’s original sin consisted of attempting to be the first creation of God who could create life exactly like God generated life. I contend that God gave Satan billions of years to accomplish such a feat by experimentation with the first life forms God placed on the earth he created in Genesis 1:1. I contend that Satan was able to learn how to clone and manipulate the original life forms God created in Genesis, and that his counterfeiting endeavors over billions of years are found in the fossil records of the earth’s layers laid down over that vast expanse of time. I suspect God gave Satan all this time before a vast audience of his first creation, the angels, so that it would forever be established in their minds that God along was the giver of life, and all Satan was ever able to accomplish was the manipulation of the life forms God had first given life. So, in the end, after all the angelic host had seen the utter failure of Satan to produce a form of life to rule over the earth as his children, God recreated what Satan had wrecked and marred, and then created a new creature on the earth to rule over it in righteousness in his name, the creation we know as Adam, man, or anthropos.
And, when Adam sinned, God immediately revealed his plan to have his Seed, his only begotten Son, to be the one who would buy back Adam’s inheritance by the price of his own blood on the cross.
Genesis 3:15 – And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Hebrews 2:14,15 – Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; [15] And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
It is my contention that while Satan was never able to create such a being as Adam, even by mutation of the species, manipulation of the DNA, or cloning, it is possible he was eventually successful in producing a creature with a crude form of animal intelligence. At the end of the pre-Cambrian age, hundreds of fossil life forms suddenly appeared in the Cambrian rock strata. These were the original life forms of Genesis 1:1, and it was from these simple life forms that Satan’s experimentation produced the heinous creatures that eventually roamed the earth for millions of years. It is conceivable that Satan hoped eventually, through experimentation with “bios,” to make a life form in the flesh in which his “zoe” could dwell. If so, he failed completely. And, more importantly, all of heaven was a witness to his failure. I do not believe Satan has ever been, or ever will be, able to create life as God creates it, from within his person. But I do believe he has learned to take what God has created, and manipulate, mutate, and clone it into something God never intended.
I will take the Scriptures, Lord willing, and make a case for my contention in Part 5.
Dr. J. Louis Guthrie, in his book, “Christ in Creation,” says of “bios” and “zoe” on page 17: “bios is a Greek word meaning physical or tangible life. From it we get many English derivatives connected with physical life. Zoe is the other form. It isn’t easily defined and indeed corresponds more closely to what we call spiritual life in common speech. I cannot recall a single instance, where the Greek work bios, is ever used for the inner life of God, his saved, or angels, and I have given it pretty thorough investigation. These words and their meanings at times are incorporated in the inner life when life is spoken of in the sense of such things as salvation, regeneration, development of Christian ideals, and the resurrection. Many times it is implied that the physical life depends on the spiritual. The living zoe never seems to have existence alone, the inner life is the sort that is self sustaining, and has no need of food itself, also it has complete power to give off eternally and never receive nor demand anything returning to it. This life seems to comprehend the infinity of matter, mind, and spirit. This is the complete fullness of divine life. God then becomes to us a complete personality of material, mind, and spirit.” Neither could I find a single case where bios, or derivations thereof, were ever used to refer to anything but things concerned with physical or tangible life. It was never used for the inner life of God, his saved, or angels. With this in mind, I repeat my original hypothesis that Satan was able to mutate, manipulate, and clone the cells of the original life forms of Genesis 1:1 into a low grade form of bios, but never zoa (eternal life). In my ancient seminary composition I wrote, “I would not be surprised to see scientists produce crude bios in test tube proportions in the next ten years.” And indeed they did! I told the members of the church I pastor in Dardanelle 35 years ago that they would clone a warm blooded mammal prior to the year 2000, and that it was quite possible they would clone a soulless human just before the Lord returned.
In Part 5 I will give accounts from Scripture that support my hypothesis that Satan has, can, and will duplicate life forms. He has been in the process for a very long time. Hopefully, before I am finished with this series on the Genesis creation, I will transmit my explanation as what caused the age of the dinosaurs to abruptly come to an end.

ISIS crisis has more chaos to spare

ISIS appears ready to continue its conquests. How far can the militants reach and what will they leave behind in their wake?

The name has been on everyone’s lips recently. The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has catalogued some truly stunning military victories in the last few weeks, threatening the very existence of Iraq and Syria through its dream of uniting the two (and other countries) into a greater Islamic Caliphate in the Middle East.

Most disturbingly, their extreme show of force was completely unexpected, a difficult feat to accomplish under the watchful eyes of the West, but one that was repeated by the ISIS attack Wednesday on Iraq’s largest air force base.

This second surprise attack came as experts were predicting that the group would begin to consolidate its control over territory already captured, instead of trying to extend its military (of only several thousand fighters) any further, raising the question of how far ISIS will get.

The Levant, stretching from Iraq in the East to Israel, Lebanon, and even Cyprus in the West, marks ISIS’ territorial claims. Can they realistically capture all that land?

The answer, in all likelihood, is no. Absolutely not. So much would have to be accomplished in such a short time by such a small group that the possibility is relatively inconceivable.

However, the gains already made by ISIS along with the stagnation and lack of political will in the West means that this crisis is far from over. Chaos and brutality has yet to abdicate their throne in the Middle East and these forces will have far reaching impacts on politics, fundamentally changing the way the modern world views humanity, terrorism, the role of the UN and the US, and the very nature of warfare.

Where do things go from here?

Firstly, Iraq’s fate hangs in the balance. Analysts predict that ISIS will face a much harder fight taking Baghdad than they did taking Mosul. Iraq’s army in Baghdad is better-trained, and its Shia soldiers are more likely to stand by the Shia-led (and Shia-favoring) government.

Even so, Iraq’s leaders may be in for another surprise. After capturing Tikrit just north of Baghdad, ISIS seized large swaths of desert to the southwest, all the way down to the border with Jordan, and struck out eastwards where Iraq’s largest oil refinery is being fiercely contended. In addition, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki will most likely be unsuccessful in attempts to create a new, unified government with the will to combat ISIS. One of the reasons the group is appealing and effective in the field is the momentum of fervent action, contradictory to bureaucrats who remain slow, stubborn, and stagnant.

If Baghdad falls in the coming weeks, the Iraqi government will fall with it, most likely fleeing into exile. The rest of the world will struggle to respond while a massive influx of Shia refugees from the south-east of Iraq threatens the tenuous peace in Afghanistan.

The fear and complete shock of the ISIS campaign will no doubt trigger greater extremism even amongst those who are normally level-headed and security-oriented. Neighboring countries like Iran (although in no real danger of being captured by ISIS) could see a rise in border incidents and domestic terrorism, which would lead to a harsh crack-down on minority Sunni populations who will be apt to retaliate instead of submit.

ISIS will then use the military equipment and masses of funds captured in Iraq to make further gains in Syria, though they may have difficulting in facing the brick wall of President Bashar Assad’s stubbornly loyal (and Russian-equipped) military.

It would be logical at this time to expect a short period of consolidation in minor ways, but for the most part, ISIS will allow the population under their control an amount of freedom inconsistent with Sharia law, in order to avoid uprisings from within the population. Instead they will focus on PR and brainwashing in a massive recruitment campaign.

Jordan will be their next fish to fry.

Jordan paralyzed

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is much more stable than Iraq, and will require a different style of assault by ISIS. Jordan’s army is strong and harbors great resolve, making it unlikely that ISIS could penetrate the country and create a large army-style front as they have in Iraq. Jordan could however, be paralyzed from within.

As a terrorist organization, ISIS is a part of a decade-long trend that’s changing the way wars are fought. Organized armies are still struggling to adapt to fighting terrorists instead of foreign militaries, and ISIS would no doubt utilize this fact in Jordan.

One tactic that ISIS appears to be very adept at using is social media. An internet campaign to gain supporters in Jordan would no doubt capture the fervor of many extremists grown tired of the monarchy. Jordan was one of the few countries to weather the storms of the Arab Spring, but that doesn’t mean that its people could not be incited to revolutionary action in favor of a holy liberator.

A campaign of fear and terror attacks by individuals from within and without Jordan could throw the country into chaos. A brutal regime crackdown would incite the population to join ISIS instead of fighting them, and could eventually lead to the collapse of the armed forces. It is important to remember that Jordan has a Sunni majority, a fact that the Sunni ISIS will no doubt seek to exploit.

However, the future of Jordan remains a possible source of optimism for now. Officials in the kingdom are already saying that any action from ISIS against Jordan would be dealt with quickly and unmercifully while any real threat to the Jordanian government would most likely finally trigger a severe reaction from Europe, the US, and possibly Israel.

Things change

If we can learn anything from history, it’s that things change. ISIS is not unstoppable, and will likely reach its limits in the coming months in Iraq, Syria, or possibly Jordan. It will most probably collapse under its own weight in the future, leaving a vacuum that could either create fertile ground for democracy, or, more likely, several more years or even decades of unforeseen chaos.

What can be said unequivocally is that the presence of ISIS will change not only political ties and possibly borders in the Middle East. These events will undoubtedly play a large, though perhaps subtle role in changing the mindset of the world, for better or worse.

For example, ISIS could be the death blow of the world’s reliance on the US to serve as global policeman, making further room for China, Russia, and other, even less savory characters.

Also, talks on the definition of terrorism, along with its implications and effects, will be renewed in international debates. How can the world combat these forces? A growing number of people may even suggest that such groups are left alone to evolve into semi-legitimate entities while the world ignores them.

The rapidly changing situation demands a new outlook, and such questions will become even more important as the US and Europe struggle with the threat of citizens who fought with ISIS and then returned home to bring jihad to the West.

No matter how the world decides to view terrorism in the future, discussions must be centered on creating Democracy 2.0 – a political force that is agile, secure, and capable of rapid movement to counter a movement like ISIS without surrendering reason and level-headedness.

Expressions Of Solidarity With ISIS In The West

In April 2013, a rift was created in the global jihadi movement when the Islamic
State of Iraq (ISI) announced that it was expanding into Syria and that it was changing its name to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Following this announcement, another jihadi organization in Syria, Jabhat Al-Nusra (JN), rejected ISIS’s authority, remaining loyal to Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri. ISIS even challenged Al-Zawahiri himself, refusing to follow his instructions to restrict itself to operating in Iraq. In early 2014, the rift escalated to violent conflict – ISIS versus JN and other jihadi organizations in both Iraq and Syria.

Having taken control of large areas of Iraq in recent months, ISIS is now enjoying increasing shows of solidarity from the Middle East and from across the Muslim world – and also from Western countries. Several factors contribute to its popularity, among them its jihad against the Americans in Iraq prior to its expansion into Syria, when it was ISI; its current struggle against Iraq’s Shi’ite government and its security forces – perceived as apparatuses for Shi’ite suppression of Sunnis; and its war against the Alawi Assad regime, which is an ally of the Shi’ites. ISIS’s activity on these fronts has helped bolster its image as the spearhead in the war against the enemies of Islam within and without the Muslim world, and raised its stature among supporters of global jihad.

Further adding to its popularity are ISIS’s achievements on the battlefields of Iraq and Syria, and its image as the only organization today that is actualizing authentic Islamic ideals and striving towards establishing the Islamic idea of a greater caliphate. It casts itself, and its propagandists depict it, as a legitimate sovereign body implementing shari’a law in areas under its control, and spreading Islam by means of jihad, thus forming the core of this future caliphate. Recently, ISIS spokesman Abu Muhammad Al-’Adnani even called on Al-Qaeda to swear fealty to his organization, because the “state” it embodies supersedes any organization.[1]

Sympathy for ISIS extends also to its leader, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, who is seen by the organization’s fans as the legitimate leader of all Muslims. This is because of his religious education, his lineage, and his jihadi past. As a challenger to Al-Zawahiri, he is considered more charismatic and more capable of leading the Muslim ummah towards the longed-for caliphate. Thus, under Al-Baghdadi’s leadership, ISIS is emerging as an alternative to Al-Qaeda, and is seen as working diligently to actualize the Muslims’ goals without Al-Qaeda’s religion-based reservations about, for example, imposing the jizya poll tax on Christians or conducting mass killings of Shi’ites.

The persecution of ISIS, even by Al-Qaeda, adds to its status in many circles as an “underdog” fighting for the goals of Islam and the good of all Muslims. Additionally, its highly efficient propaganda apparatus circulates videos and publications via jihadi forums and social media, praising itself and criticizing its rivals and opponents.

Westerners Joining And Promoting ISIS

The Westerners who are leaving their home countries to join ISIS in its fight in Iraq and Syria also add to the organization’s prestige, both inside and outside the Muslim world. These volunteers are widely covered by the media in their own countries, and each new arrival also receives a fanfare in the organization’s local press outlets and social media; these volunteers themselves are usually very active users of social media, communicating with friends and family back home as well as followers and engaging in their own efforts to promote and recruit for the organization in the West.

Further evidence of its sweeping popularity was the June 19, 2014 “One Billion Muslims Support ISIS” campaign, which urged ISIS sympathizers worldwide to express their support for the organization on Friday, June 20, and even devised a special Twitter hashtag for the purpose. The campaign elicited considerable response from supporters in numerous participants, who posted images and videos expressing their support for ISIS.[2]

This Western support for ISIS is crucial to the group’s propaganda efforts; in addition to swelling the ranks of its fighters and bringing in funds and logistical support, it increases its prestige and deters its rivals.
Elements Used In Expressions Of Support For ISIS

These expressions of solidarity with ISIS on social and other media use common ISIS symbolism. They include posters of support for it and for Al-Baghdadi; the use of the slogan baqiya wa-tatmaddad, “will remain and spread”;[3] the black tawhid flag, widely used by other global jihad elements; and ISIS nasheeds, or Islamic songs.

Other expressions of solidarity include: photos of ISIS posters next to Western landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Big Ben in London, the Atomium building in Brussels, and the Coliseum in Rome; photos of ISIS posters alongside Western passports; and other images shared on social media. All these add to ISIS’s image of an organization on the rise, and may also indicate its expansionist ambitions.

At least two contributions to the One Billion Muslims campaign came from the U.S. One was a photo of a drawing of ISIS emblem against the backdrop of the New York City skyline, and the other was a photo of a sign of support for ISIS taken in downtown Chicago.

Belgium and The Netherlands

ISIS is evidently very popular with radical Muslims in Belgium and The Netherlands. For example, a February 2014 YouTube video titled “Nasheed Live 2014 Belgie & Nederland” features a male choir singing a medley of songs glorifying ISIS and deriding its rivals. For example, there is a song in Arabic and Flemish titled “Unite the Ranks and Pledge Loyalty to [ISIS Leader] Al-Baghdadi”, and derogatory songs about America, JN and the Free Syrian Army. The singers also call out ISIS slogans like “the Islamic state will remain forever”. The group’s extensive familiarity with ISIS-related themes attests to the organization’s far-reaching influence, even on people in Europe.[5]
A December 2013 YouTube video[6] documents a pro-ISIS demonstration by several dozen people in a Dutch city.[7] In it, ISIS supporters, who appear with their faces unmasked, praise the organization and fire up the crowd with ISIS slogans and songs. Some of them hold up a sign saying “Democracy = Hypocrisy.”

The video begins with a slide saying “From the heart of the Western lands, from Holland – to the brave hero Sheikh Abu Bakr, the Emir of the Believers who rolls the apostates’ noses in the dust. We will sacrifice our lives, our property, our children and all our assets for you, and Allah is our witness that we will support our beloved state [ISIS] by word or deed.”

As part of the One Billion Muslims campaign, an ISIS supporter from Amsterdam posted the image below, of a hand-made sign photographed against the background of a Dutch windmill. The sign reads: “The Islamic state in Iraq and Syria will remain and expand. From Holland, on Friday, June 20, 2014. the ‘support the Islamic state’ [day]. Amsterdam, capital of Holland.”

In another image posted as part of this campaign, four people, whose faces are blurred, hold up ISIS banners in a Dutch city center decorated with flags to celebrate The Netherlands’ participation in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The image below, posted on the Twitter page of the One Billion Muslims campaign, shows an ISIS banner agaisnt the background of Amsterdam’s central train station:

Supporters from Belgium posted photos of pro-ISIS signs against the backdrop of the Brussels Atomium. The signs say: “ISIS will remain and expand, with Allah’s help – Brussels.”[8]

The sign below, photographed against the backdrop of a building in downtown Brussels, says, among other messages, “Your brother from Belgium supports you.”

In addition to images taken in Western cities and/or next to iconic Western landmarks, ISIS supporters also post pro-ISIS messages next to Western passports, to signify that support for ISIS is global, and perhaps also to hint at the coming of the Caliphate will render them obsolete. The image below, sourced from the same Twitter page, shows a Dutch passport and a Turkish once, with a note saying: “One billion Muslims support ISIS.”

Spain

Among the participants in the One Billion Muslims campaign were also ISIS supporters from Spain. Naturally, they did not refer to the country as Spain, but as Andalus, and some even called it a wilaya (province) of the future Islamic caliphate.

Germany

Shows of solidarity for ISIS in Germany have also been multiplying. A number of Germans have joined the organization’s ranks, mainly in Syria; among them is German rapper Deso Dogg, aka Abu Talha Al-Almani. [9]

Many French citizens have gone to fight in Syria, with the greatest number apparently joining ISIS; some of them have since returned to France. The many shows of solidarity with ISIS from France include photos taken near Paris landmarks such as the Eifel Tower and the Louvre, under the title “French Support for ISIS”:[10]

A 70 YEAR OLD FROG IN A 21ST CENTURY PUNCH BOWL
June 26, 2002
Had I been born in the 18th or early 19th century, I would have been accepted as a pillar of orthodoxy in prophetic teaching. In that time period most, and if not most, then many, believed the following:
1) That God himself would do the destroying of the earth by his Mighty Power
2) That the “he” in Daniel 9:27 refers not to the antichrist, but to Messiah the Prince, Jesus Christ, and that Jesus has already fulfilled the first part of Daniel’s 70th week.
3) That the empire of antichrist would only affect the areas that were conquered by Daniel’s Babylonian, Persian, Grecian, and Roman Empires in his seventh chapter. In other words, the known world at the time of Daniel and John’s writings in Revelation.
4) That the first resurrection, what is commonly referred to today as the “rapture,” would occur on the blowing of the seventh trumpet in the book of Revelation, which they believed to correspond to the “last trump” in First Corinthians. Others believed it would not occur until the final vial of wrath was poured out at the end of the Tribulation Period.
5) That the antichrist would come out of Syria and the countries backing him would come out of the southern flank of the old Roman Empire, and would stretch from Morocco to Iran, which today are Islamic nations.
Since I believe all five of these things, I am about as popular as a frog would be when found floating in a punch bowl at the high school prom. To some I am a heretic, lunatic, or renegade. I much prefer to be referred to as a goofy, antiquated, 79 year old frog floating around in a 21st century punch bowl of modern day prophetic teachings. But regardless of what I am, I honestly believe we are quite likely to find out, probably within the next 4 years, who is right about their interpretation of prophetic scriptures and who is wrong.
So, since I have already presented my case on these subjects, which may be found in our Prophecy or Birth Pang Archives, with one exception, that being the 7th Trumpet Rapture, you may as well know what the old frog believes about this subject.
Paul, writing to the church at Corinth, indicated he was going to unveil a mystery of the Old Testament that a lot of the Prophets wrote about, but whose writings were to be made clearer to later generations. Isaiah wrote about it terms that we, now having the New Testament, are able to comprehend more fully.
Isaiah 26:19 + I Corinthians 15:51,52 + I Thessalonians 4:16,17 – Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. [51] Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, [52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. [16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: [17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Paul “showed” or “clarified” the “mystery,” but John tells us when it will be finished.
I Corinthians 15:51 + Revelation 10:7 + I Corinthians 15:52 – Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, [7] But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the pro-phets. [52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
PAUL “SHOWED” THE MYSTERY – JOHN FINISHED IT!
Revelation 10:7 – But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
WHEN THE 7TH TRUMPET BLOWS THE SAVED WILL BE CAUGHT UP TO HEAVEN FOR JUDGMENT BY CHRIST, AND ALL THAT MAKE UP HIS SPIRITUAL REALM WILL STRETCH FROM ONE END OF HEAVEN TO THE OTHER.
Revelation 11:15,18 – And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. [18] And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
While the nations on earth are angry because of the seven vials of wrath that are being poured out following the blowing of the seventh trumpet, the time of the dead, who have suddenly been resurrected for judgment before Christ, occurs in this heavenly scene of Revelation 11:18. While the saved are being judged for rewards in heaven, God’s seven vials of wrath are destroying those who are responsible for the destruction of morality on the earth. However you interpret this scripture it paints a heavenly scene where the resurrected dead are being judged for rewards in heaven, and it follows the blowing of the 7th trumpet. It has to be what Paul outlined in II Corinthians as describing Christ judging all the saved after the rapture.
II Corinthians 5:2,3,10 – For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: [3] If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. [10] For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
In Revelation 9:13 we read that the sixth trumpet has sounded, so we know that the next trumpet to sound will be the seventh in a series of seven.
Revelation 9:13 – And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
In the first verse of the following chapter we are introduced to a mighty angel from heaven with tremendous authority from heaven. He is an archangel and may well be the seventh angel who blows the final trumpet in a series of seven.
Revelation 10:1 – [1] And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
He has direct authority from God to speak for Him, and to give an oath in his name. He then tells the reader that the earthly church age of the Gentiles is about to end.
Revelation 10:5,6 – And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, [6] And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
I cannot tell for sure in the Greek of verse seven whether he is referring to himself, or is merely telling us what will happen when the seventh angel blows his trumpet. But, in either case, in this verse we are definitely informed that:
1) The seventh angel has a voice.
2) The seventh angel is soon to blow his trumpet.
3) When he blows it the mystery surrounding the rapture of the saved, spoken in the Old and New Testaments by the prophets, will be finished.
Revelation 10:7 – But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
I believe the voice of the archangel and the trump that is blown in II Thessalonians 4:16 is the same as found in Revelation 10:7 and 11:15.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 – For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Revelation 11:15 – And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
I also believe that the last trump of I Corinthians 15:52 is the last in a series of seven that is sounded in Revelation 11:15.
I Corinthians 15:52 – In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
And I am convinced that the dead in this verse are the dead in Christ who are resurrected to stand before Christ’s judgment seat in heaven to be judged for rewards and/or the lack of them.
Revelation 11:18 – And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
I do not anticipate going through the vials of God’s wrath that follow the blowing of the seventh trumpet.
Revelation 16:1 – And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
I Thessalonians 5:9 – For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
For a long time I kept silent on what I believed on the five things presented at the beginning of this Prophecy Update, and went merrily around the world presenting lectures on the geological upheavals the Bible indicated would occur during the last 3 and ½ years of the Tribulation Period, and the Five Signs of His Coming, and The Antichrist, and From Now to Armageddon. It was possible for me to do this series of four different lectures without telling people what I really believed on the five subjects at the beginning of this Prophecy Update. As long as I did this I could present what I believed would happen during the last 3 and ½ years of the Tribulation Period, the signs that would precede it, and what would happen during the blowing of the first six trumpets. In other words, I could present what I was convinced God’s children would soon experience. I was prince charming to many attending the lectures. I truly believe I did was I was supposed to do. I did not lie to people. I just did not address directly the five subjects. Well, old prince charming has done what he was supposed to do and, since passing age 78, is now completing at age 79 what he believes he is supposed to finish. In so doing he has been changed from a fast moving young prince into an old frog in a punch bowl. I know that I must face Christ at His judgment seat, and I would much rather appear there as an old frog who told God’s people what he knew in his heart what was about to happen to them, rather than as a charming young prince who told them just what they wanted to hear.

LACHISH: PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE

PSYWAR IN THE ANCIENT WORLD

Psychological warfare, or PSYWAR as it is now called, is not a modern invention. The ancient Assyrians were masters of the art.

Their strategy was four-pronged:*

*advance warning of their strength; the formidable army of the Assyrians hardly ever lost a battle, and anyone who faced them knew they had virtually no chance of winning

*continual vilification and insults directed at the citizens of a besieged town – like Lachish

*prominent display near the city walls of tortured, dismembered, disemboweled captives; decapitation was a mercy for any prisoner of the Assyrians records of the savage details of their victories, prominently displayed in their own palaces so that visiting envoys and ambassadors had to pass and see them.

The Assyrians had capable generals, well-trained soldiers, and excellent weapons. At the height of their power they were virtually invincible on the battlefield.

So if they invaded a country (like the little kingdom of Judah), and the inhabitants were not prepared to surrender, it was marginally safer for them to hole up in a fortified city and wait out the inevitable siege. This is what the people of Lachish tried to do.

Siege warfare, which involved the entire noncombatant population of the besieged town, was governed by a strict rule: before any hostile action, peace was offered in return for surrender to the besieging army. If this offer was refused, the town’s adult male population was liable to death and its property to confiscation.

HAVING THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EDGE

Even so, there was little chance of beating the Assyrians, since part of their power lay in their reputation – first for success, but also for dealing unmercifully with kingdoms who did not toe the line.

This gave them a psychological edge.

Assyrian kings used the inscriptions in their own palaces, and abroad, as a warning to foreign nations. They boasted that they destroyed all cities they took, and they often claimed to have killed entire populations.

WAR PROPOGANDA IN THE ANCIENT WORLD

These declarations had a deliberate public-relations purpose, as deterrents, warnings to anyone who even thought about rebellion or resistance.
According to these inscriptions, the most imaginative refinements of cruelty were reserved for cities resisting the Assyrians:

With battle and slaughter I stormed the city and captured it, 3,000 of their warriors I put to the sword; their spoils and their possessions, their cattle and sheep I carried off.

Many captives from among them I burned with fire, and many I took as living captives. From some I cut off their hands and their fingers, and from others I cut off their noses and their ears. I put out the eyes of many.
I made one pillar of the living, and another of heads, and I bound their heads to posts round about the city.

Their young men and maidens I burned in the fire, the city I destroyed,

I devastated, I burned it with fire and consumed it.

Another inscriptions says:

I took the city, and 800 of their fighting men I put to the sword, and cut off their heads. Multitudes I captured alive, and the rest of them I burned with fire, and carried off their heavy spoil.

I formed a pillar of the living and of heads over against his city gate and 700 men I impaled on stakes over against their city gate.

The city I destroyed, I devastated, and I turned it into a mound and ruined heap.
Their young men and maidens I burned in the fire.’

The Bible records that at the siege of Jerusalem, Sennacherib’s officer, taunting the Jews on the city, wall, assured them that they were doomed to ‘eat their own faeces and drink their own piss’ (2 Kings 18:27).

On the eve of the discovery of the three kidnapped teens’ bodies, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented his political and security-related doctrine to the citizens of Israel and the world. No more moves of response tailored for the needs of the hour, but an organized doctrine pointing to an intention to implement a consistent policy, step by step.

The regional developments, according to Netanyahu, require the erection of an efficient and reliable security fence along the Jordan River, both in order to combat dangers from the east and northeast and in order to effectively control the movement of the Palestinian residents living between the western security fence and the new eastern one.

The premise indicated in his speech is that the Palestinians in Judea and Samaria will get accustomed to this situation, whether due to lack of choice or because of simultaneous efforts to provide them with improved living conditions, a thriving economy and a certain degree of self rule, subject to Israel’s security needs.

Israel, according to Netanyahu, will continue its uncompromising battle against the terror led by Hamas and will claim prices which may be greater and harder, as long as it takes. At the same time, it will develop an initiated regional policy and team up with countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, and will especially be loyal to Jordan.

In this framework, Netanyahu devoted a specific, unequivocal statement to Kurdistan, which is still a district in northern Iraq, and publicly declared his support for its political independence.

But there is no certainty whatsoever that this policy can be implemented. The Palestinian public in Judea and Samaria is starting to wake up, and the clashes developing between Jews and Arabs are multiplying and intensifying. Mahmoud Abbas’ control of his people is growing weaker, both because of his own failures and because in the past few months Israel has been operating against him both publicly and in other ways to force him to take the road we are outlining.

In this state of affairs, individuals and groups may initiate acts of revenge, some of which will be thwarted while the others will inflame the situation even more.

As it is clear that the Palestinian side will not be able to receive the suggested outline, Abbas will be forced to fight it or get out of the arena. The Palestinian Authority’s collapse will be an inevitable outcome.

On the regional level, the Kurdish move is filled with problems. Netanyahu made his comments shortly after US Secretary of State met with Massoud Barzani, the president of the Kurdish district in northern Iraq, and begged him not to push for the region’s independence. Netanyahu’s declaration pushes Israel one step further away from its American friend and joins other moves of estrangement from its ally.

The Israeli move likely aims to encourage the establishment of a Kurdish state in territories where significant Kurdish publics live. We are talking about a future annexation of lands from northern Iran, Turkey and Syria to the new state. There is no idea which is further away even from Russia’s policy on this issue.

The case of a strong regional opposition to the establishment of a Kurdish state, I doubt that Israel, with all its abilities, will be able to carry the responsibility for the move on its shoulders. Let us just mention that during the Yom Kippur War, Israel had hoped that the Kurds would open a front against the Arabs in northern Iraq, but that hope was shattered.

Netanyahu also spoke about the radical Islamic forces – ISIS – which are moving fast towards Baghdad. He likely wrapped them in the same bundle with Hamas, but that’s not the case. Hamas is the most bitter and efficient rival of ISIS.

Khaled Mashaal declared Wednesday that Hamas was interested in maintaining its agreements with Israel which ended the two recent rounds – Operations Cast Lead and Pillar of Defense. Hamas in Gaza is preferable to ISIS in Gaza.

This is probably the worst timing to talk about the interests shared by Israel and Hamas, as we mourn the teens killed in a despicable murder. The heart says “never,” but what does the mind say?

Matthew 24:7A,8 – And there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. [8] All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Matthew and Mark identify these three phenomena as being noticeable by a steady increase like a woman’s birth pains.

Both Matthew and Mark identify these three as “the beginning of sorrows. But while Luke also lists these three, he does not mention the beginning of sorrows. He does not label it as such because he adds two other bad phenomena, fearful sights and great signs, which were to mark the beginning of the great tribulation period of three and one-half years.

Luke 21:11,25 – And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. [25] And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Mark 13:26 – And then shall they see the Son of man coming IN THE CLOUDS with great power and glory.

The Olivet Discourse by Jesus is found in Luke, Mark, and Matthew. I have read hundreds of expositions of the discourse by many different men. I can truthfully say, without reservations or hesitation, that many positions are held on the discourse and wide differences do indeed exist between them. Some believe it was all fulfilled by 73 A.D., some say most of it was fulfilled by 73 A.D., and some say most of it is yet to be fulfilled. Some say it only applies to the Jews, and some say it applies to both Jew and Gentile.

In this exposition I will attempt to weave a pattern based on all three discourses, with the account of Luke serving as the basic document to explain Matthew and Mark’s accounts.

Matthew 24:1,2 – And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. [2] And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

His statement shocked the first church members to the depths of their souls. They had been required from their teens to annually come to this temple for the three Feasts of Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. It represented all that was holy to them, and many times they had met as a local church in its courtyards to worship God in the presence of their head, Jesus Christ. So, it is very easy to understand why, as soon as they were alone, they would be certain to ask him to elaborate on his shocking proclamation. They asked him a three-part question.

Matthew 24:3 – And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Question Number 1 – When shall these things be? When will the temple be leveled?

Question Number 2 – And what shall be the sign of thy coming? What things can we look for to let us know that you are soon to establish your kingdom?

Question Number 3 – And what shall be the sign of the end of the world (this age)?

What things can we look for to let us know this age of Gentile domination is drawing to a close?

Christ began by telling them of two common things that would precede the leveling of the Temple Mount. They were to see many claiming to be the Messiah who could deliver them from the Romans, and there would be many rumors of wars within, and all around the periphery of, the borders of the great Roman Empire. This is precisely what happened from his crucifixion to 135 A.D., by which time Hadrian had placed the final touches on the prior leveling of the Temple Mount and the city of Jerusalem by Titus in 70 A.D.

Matthew 24:4-6 – And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. [5] For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. [6] And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, BUT THE END IS NOT YET.

Luke 21:9 – But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; BUT THE END IS NOT BY AND BY.

Jesus clearly told them not to use these two things as the signs that were to mark his answers to questions two and three. These things would mark the period up to the last gasp of Jerusalem as a Jewish city, when it was given a new Roman name by Hadrian. Referring to question three, he stated very clearly: “but the end (of the age) is not yet, but the end (of the age) shall not be yet, but the end (of the age) is not by and by.” And even though he told them, and us, not to use these two things to mark his coming and the end of this age of the Gentiles, they are the very things we have repeatedly used right up to the present time. We have always had false messiahs and rumors of wars in all the ages since the cross and, while Scripture indicates false messiahs are to increase at the end, they should not be used as the prime reason to teach the coming of Jesus and the end of this Gentile age is rapidly approaching. So, just what should we use? I will cover this in the next article, Lord willing.

I do not believe the current Caliph of the new Caliphate is the Antichrist, but I do believe a future Mahdi Antichrist Caliph will arise out of this Caliphate after U.S. President — leaves Office. Revelation 16:16 – And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Revelation 17:12-14,17 – And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. [13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. [14] These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. [17] For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. (Verse 14 is the 2nd Advent of Christ when He returns with all the saints He has judged in Heaven to overcome Antichrist at final Armageddon battle)

In Part 1, an exposition of Matthew 24:1-6, Mark 13:7, and Luke 21:9 was given.

The exposition revealed that the disciples asked Jesus three specific questions involving events associated with the establishment of his kingdom on the earth. They were: (1) When will Herod’s temple be leveled?, (2) What things can we look for to let us know your kingdom is soon going to be established?, and (3) What things can we look for to let us know the present age of Gentile domination is drawing to a close? He began by first addressing the signs that would precede the leveling of the temple of Herod. He stated in Matthew 24:5,6, Mark 13:6,7, and Luke 21:8,9 that two things could be expected to draw their attention before the destruction of Herod’s temple: (1) Many would come claiming to be the promised Messiah, and (2) There would be many wars throughout the Roman empire, both internal, and around the vast expanse of its long borders. History confirms that is precisely what happened during the time frame before the destruction of the temple. Jesus was very clear in his instructions for them to NOT use these two things as the signs that would precede the other two questions they had asked, as he stated: “but the end (of the age) is not yet, but the end (of the age) shall not be yet, but the end (of the age) is not by and by.” So, having given them a partial answer to question one, which he will answer more completely later in the discourse, he launches into his answer to question two. How can I be sure he starts a new discourse in the next verse?

Luke 21:9,10 – But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. [10] THEN SAID HE unto them, Nation shall RISE AGAINST nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

The English words “THEN SAID HE” are “TOTE ELEGEN.” TOTE ELEGEN points to a new beginning in discourse, which has the effect of dissociating the repeated mention of the previous disturbances (From the Expositor’s Greek Testament, Volume 1, Edited by W. Robertson Nicoll, M.A., LL.D.) Simply stated, it amounted to Jesus saying, now that I have told you what would precede the temple destruction, I will answer your second question, the question “And what shall be the sign of thy coming,” or “What things can we look for to let us know you are soon to establish your kingdom?”

It is very tempting, and only natural, to assume that the “wars” predicted in Luke 21:9, and “Nation shall rise against Nation” in 21:10, are one and the same, but I assure you, that is not the case for three reasons. First, to begin the new discourse, he says “TOTE ELEGEN.” Secondly, he has just advised them not to use “wars and commotions” except for a sign the temple was about to be leveled. And, last of all, because of the two Koine Greek words translated as “RISE” and “AGAINST.”

The root word used for RISE is EGEIRO, and it means to come to life, to rise from sleep, or to come into existence. It is used in the phrases taken from the following Scriptures.

Matthew 14:2 – He is RISEN from the dead.
Matthew 16:21 – And be RAISED again the third day.
Matthew 27:52 – And many bodies of the saints which slept AROSE.
Matthew 27:63 – After three days I will RISE again.
Matthew 27:64 – He is RISEN from the dead.
Matthew 28:6 – He is not here: for he is RISEN, as he said.
Matthew 3:9 – God is able of these stones to RAISE up children unto Abraham.

The word used for AGAINST is EPI, and it simply means “UPON” or “ON.” One of the first things I learned in seminary was the use of the Greek prepositions. They were all placed in positions relative to a cube, and the position of EPI was “ON” or “UPON” the top pf the cube. If a thing is “UPON” another thing, it is certainly resting “AGAINST” it, but the inference that the two objects are fighting “AGAINST” one another is not valid. EPI in the New Testament in the accusative is translated as UPON or ON some 219 times, as opposed to 33 times for AGAINST. Jesus would not advise them to disregard wars as a sign of his coming in one breath, and then tell them to do the opposite in the next, and indeed he did not, because he used TOTE ELEGEN to mark the beginning of a new discourse. He is answering the second question in verse 10, and advises that shortly before his second coming many new nations would come to life, rising one upon another, and ever increasing in number. Before the Great War I, the world consisted of vast colonial empires, and very few individual nations existed. Shortly before World War II, and much more rapidly after Japan’s surrender, new nations began to come to life like weeds across the earth, rising in number one upon another with the end of the colonial empires. When the United Nations began in 1945, some 51 nations became charter members. By 1989, as new nations were born one upon another, it had more than tripled to 160, and now the number of nations on the earth has reached 200. False Messiahs rose before Jesus, were here in the lifetime of Jesus, and have been numerous up to the present. There have been 24 that presented themselves to the nation of Israel since the crucifixion. I realize that in the last days they are to increase in number, but they have always been with us. Also, the worldwide wars and commotions reached an all time record high of 25 in 1987, but have steadily declined since the drop in communist influence in the developing countries after the breakup of the Soviet Union. I tracked war declines yearly until 1993, at which time worldwide wars had declined to 10, but the number of nations had been steadily increasing since the end of World War I.

In November 2008 there were three ongoing wars between three small individual nations. The “EPI” in the Olivet discourse prophetically applied to nation rising upon nation as they increase in number, not to an increase in the number of wars.

Lord willing, in Part 3, I will be giving additional proof of what has been put forward in this Blog. So if you have reservations about the conclusions drawn in this article, hold your fire until you read Part 3.

In Part I, an exposition of Matthew 24:1-6, Mark 13:7, and Luke 21:9 was given.

In Part 2, a thorough exposition of Luke 21:10 was given as it related to its disassociation from 21:9, because by the use of “tote elegen” for “then said he,” it indicated that a new subject was being introduced, so that the “wars” of verse 9 are not related to “nation shall rise against nation” in verse 10.

Luke 21:9,10 – But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. [10] Then said he (tote elegen) unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

In Part 2, a case was made to show the root word “egeiro,” translated as “rise” in verse 10, means to “come to life, to rise from sleep, or to come into existence.” And I showed numerous Scriptures where it was used in order to make that point. A case was also made to show that the word “against” is “epi,” and that its basic meaning is “on” or “upon.” So the claim was made that “Nation shall rise (egeiro) against (epi) does not in any way refer to war, but rather the ever increasing number of nations that have come to life in the last 53 years, rising one upon another from the 51 charter members of the United Nations in 1945 to 160 by 1989, and to 200 in 2003. Nothing like this has ever happened in history. But I promised, at the close of part 2, to provide additional proof that “Nation shall rise against nation” does not refer to increasing wars, but rather to an increasing rise in the number of new nations every coming to life, and raising one upon another. And I will proceed to present additional proof at this time.

Immediately after Matthew and Mark list the signs that give the answer to the second question they asked him, which was, “And what shall be the sign of thy coming,” Jesus gives the general name for the four things he has listed in the expression, “All these are the beginning of sorrows.”

Matthew 24:7,8 – For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. [8] All these are the beginning of SORROWS (ODIN).

The God-Breathed word for SORROWS is ODIN. You may look in any Greek Lexicon from any time period, and you will always find this listed centrally as the definition for ODIN – “The pains a woman suffers in the travail of childbirth, a woman’s birth pains.” The disciples knew quite well what ODIN meant. When the Olivet Discourse was written, they had no hospitals, no painkillers, and midwives delivered the babies. If a baby was lodged sideways in the womb, no one knew how to remove the baby through the stomach, and the mother and child died. The pain of normal childbirth is painful enough, but these men had listened to the shrill dying cries of women that traveled for great distances. They knew what ODIN meant. When true labor pains begin, the first pain hurts, but the next hurts a little more, the next more and closer to its precedent, and harder and closer, and harder and closer, and harder and closer, until finally the baby arrives. This is the manner the occurrence of the four things he listed as SORROWS would follow as signs his second coming was drawing near

The four things he associated with the “sorrows” that are to be signs that his coming is drawing near are: (1) Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, (2) Earthquakes, (3) Pestilences, and (4) Famines.

Luke 21:10,11 – Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: [11] And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Luke did not refer to them as the “beginning of sorrows” because he added “fearful sights and great signs,” which are not a part of the time of sorrows, but rather a part of Christ’s answer to the third question. They will mark the end of the world (the Gentile age), and are associated with the 2nd Advent of Christ at Armageddon. I will be showing why this is the case in future expositions of the Olivet Discourse.

The number of new nations coming to life, and rising one upon another, started to increase like a woman’s birth pains at the end of World War II. Earthquakes started to follow the birth pains pattern in 1967. The pestilences began to follow the pattern in 1980. Famines began to follow the pattern in the early eighties, and continued to increase after 1993. I will deal with each one of these separately, Lord willing, in future parts of the Olivet Discourse, but Part 4 will deal with Luke 21:12 to 17, and I promise you will find it interesting.

Following are the sequence of events I believe will occur from now to the Armageddon Battle

We are finally in the Beginning of Sorrows which will eventually explode into the last 3 & ½ Tribulation Period years prior to the final Battle of Armageddon. The final Middle East war will begin at some point in time after President — leaves office, the Rapture will occur on the sounding of the 7th Trumpet in Revelation, and between Trumpet 7 and Vial 7 the wrath of God will be poured on the earth occupied by those left behind.

At the battle of Armageddon most of the kings of the earth will come to join the antichrist in a final attempt to eradicate the nation of Israel. Among them will be 10 nations representing the 10 Jihad toes of Daniel 2 that drove Israel into the Negev three and one-half years earlier.

Revelation 19:19 – And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

Some three and one-half years before the final battle of Armageddon, which closes the tribulation period, ten kings from those nations out of the Umayyad Islamic Caliphate, which conquered the southern half of the ancient Roman Empire, will attack Israel from the north.

Daniel 2:42 – And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

II Thessalonians 2:3 – Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

The last evil kingdom of antichrist on this earth was to initially be comprised of 10 nations with 10 kings led by the man of sin himself. It was to arise out of the ashes of the old Roman Empire. I have always believed it would rise out of the southern half of the Empire and be made up of 10 Islamic nations. I believe the elements for its formation are in place today, and I suspect that the most likely nations of which it will be comprised are Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. Some of these nations are strong like iron, and some are as soft and pliable as clay. All of these present day nations currently occupy the land conquered from the southern half of ancient Roman Empire by Islam’s Umayyad Caliphate which followed Muhammad’s death. The Umayyad Caliphate is slowly being resurrected from its 750 AD demise.

A branch of the family fled across North Africa to Al-Andalus, where they established the Caliphate of Córdoba, which lasted until 1031 before falling due to the Fitna of al-Ándalus.

THE FINAL ARMAGEDDON ENDED BY 2ND ADVENT OF JESUS

I do not question that in the final battle of Armageddon the descendants of Ham, Shem, and Japheth will be combatants against the nation of Israel. But I have always contended, along with the Bible expositors of the 18th and 19th centuries, that the antichrist’s initial attack would be led by Arab descendants of Abraham. They are the mingled seed of his oldest son Ishmael with the seed of the six sons he sired by Keturah, as well as some of the other offspring of his own father Terah. The Caliphate of the antichrist will be an Islamic empire that eventually takes into it other old world nations. And, in the final great battle of Armageddon, all those nations that made up the world as it was known in A.D. 95 will come against Israel, such that Japheth, Ham, and Shem’s descendants will also be involved.

Daniel 2:41-43 – And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. [42] And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. [43] And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

The 10 toes will consist primarily of Terah’s descendants. Abraham came out of Terah. Out of Abraham came the leaders of the three great monotheistic faiths associated with Moses, Jesus, and Mohammad. And they have always been in conflict. (Archive Prophecy Update Number 78 Diagram)

The inspired word in Daniel 2:43, from which the word “mingled” comes, is ARAB, which means “to interlace or mix.” The “seed of men” refers to non-descendants of the man Abraham, from which both Jews and Arabs descended.

“They” refers to the 10 toes of Daniel’s statue in Daniel 2:42, which have 10 kings over them. Isaac, the father of Israel, had seven half brothers – Ishmael from Hagar and the six sons of Keturah. It was from these seven half brothers that the Arab world has been primarily created. The descendants of Israel have been more likely to marry within the blood line of the man Israel than have the Arabs to marry within their separate bloodlines of Hagar and Keturah, and the Arabs have also intermingled with non-descendants of Abraham more than have the Jews.

Daniel 2:43 – And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

Just as iron and clay do not hold together very long, the 10 Arab nations will only hold together long enough to fulfill God’s end time tribulation period prophecies. The saved will be caught up on the sounding of the seventh trump to be judged in heaven, and the kingdom of God will all be united in heaven, waiting to return to earth with Christ at his Second Advent.

Revelation 11:15 – And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

The God of heaven will call all the saved of all the ages together in heaven during the “days of these kings,” and will initially “set up” his kingdom, from whence he will return to earth with it as its head, after the saved have been judged in heaven. Christ’s coming kingdom will “break in pieces and consume all the kingdoms” of the present world, and his kingdom alone will rule.

Revelation 11:15-18 – And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. [16] And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, [17] Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. [18] And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Christ, the stone, came from the mountain representing God, without any human instrumentation, but by God’s Spirit forming his body in a virgin’s womb. Christ will return to destroy those morally destroying the earth. All of the evil that came out of the Babylonian, Medo- Persian, Macedonian, and Roman Empires will be laid waste by his Second Advent.

Daniel 2:45 – Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

The Scriptures which follow describe the coming of the great Stone, the great Rock, coming with his kingdom.

Revelation 19:11,12 – And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. [12] His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

Daniel 2:44 – And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
Revelation 19:19,20 – And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. [20] And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. Jude 23 – And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Revelation 3:2-4 – Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. [3] Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. [4] Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

Revelation 19:7-9 – Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. [8] And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. Micah 4:7 – And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the Lord shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.

The Creation Gap Theory and Satan’s Ability to Create Life

Ephesians 6:12 – For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I Corinthians 15:50-52 – Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. [51] Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, [52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

The basic hypothesis that I offered concerning the sin of Satan against God, which I contend caused the earth to become “without form and void,” was presented in Part 4 and was as follows:

1) That Lucifer’s original sin was to attempt to create a living form of “bios” (physical life) by his own power.
2) That most, if not all, creatures possessing “bios” (physical life) in the time gap between Genesis 1:1, and the latter part of 1:2, were Satanic clones or counterfeits of the life forms God placed on the earth in Genesis 1:1.
3) That Satan’s basic purpose in his numerous forms of cloning or counterfeiting “bios” (physical life) over millions of years was to produce a form of “bios” into which he could transfer his spirit, and sustain “zoe” in his cloned creature.
4) That Satan was finally able to clone an inferior non-homosapien form of “bios” without a living soul, but could not generate “zoe” into it.

John, speaking of Christ, stated the character of life that God was able to place in physical man through faith in his Son’s ability to give it, and the Son himself professed his ability to give life having that character. The word “zoe” was used in both of the following scriptures each time the word “life” appears, and each time it means eternal life.

John 1:4 – In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

John 5:40 – And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

I certainly do not mean to imply that Satan was ever, or ever will be able, to become the original creator of anything except sin. But I do mean to imply that Satan, by misuse of his God-given intelligence, was able to clone, imitate, counterfeit, or whatever you want to label it, and bring forth a form of life we call “bios” from life that God created in Genesis 1:1. God alone is the creator of all things except sin. I am simply saying that Satan developed the capability to mutate, clone, counterfeit by his evil designs, and that these productions were made from the “all things” creations of God in Genesis 1:1.

Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

I do not mean he manipulated all of the “all things,” but that he did mutate some of them, and of the some he did mutate, he was never able to bring them under his complete control. I am also advancing the idea that God allowed Satan to carry this out over an enormous time span in order to prove to all creation God is the “most High” and, as such, the only one capable of sustaining all life and the creation itself.

Isaiah 14:12-16 – How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! [13] For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: [14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
In order to add some inductive Biblical premises to my argument that some life forms prior to Genesis 1:3 were of Satanic mutation processes, I offer the account of the plagues, which were sent by God upon the Egyptians and their many false gods. It is noteworthy that the power of Satan to produce certain bios life forms through the Egyptian magicians was vividly portrayed. Satan was able to produce bios blood and two different types of cold-blooded reptilian bios in the form of serpents and frogs.

Exodus 7:10-12 – And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the Lord had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. [11] Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. [12] For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

The superiority of God’s created bios serpents is shown by what they did to the cloned bios of Satan.

Exodus 7:20-22 – And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. [21] And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt. [22] And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the Lord had said.

Exodus 8:5-7 – And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt. [6] And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt. [7] And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.

But when it came time to clone or counterfeit a warm-blooded bios, the magicians were unable to do it. I contend that, at this point in time, the Devil had not been able to master the cloning of warm-blooded bios, but I believed he would eventually learn how to counterfeit it, and that is why I told the church I pastor 25 years ago that scientists would one day clone a warm-blooded mammal. Notice the reaction of the magicians when they were asked to produce a small warm-blooded sand louse.

Exodus 8:16-18 – And the Lord said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt. [17] And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt. [18] And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man, and upon beast.

Please notice what the Egyptian magicians said. They recognized this creation was by the finger of God, which their god Satan was not able to duplicate.

Exodus 8:19 – Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had said.

They knew they could go no farther, because their god had not yet been able to master the cloning of warm-blooded creatures in the time of Moses. And their folly was manifested to Pharaoh and all of Egypt.

The magicians exclamation, “This is the finger of God,” is a statement of their recognition of the power of the true God. They were not impressed that the “most High” could produce bios blood or simple forms of bios life in cold-blooded creatures, because their god could produce clones of counterfeit cold-blooded bios. But when God produced a small complex bios like a sand louse that their master of the god to whom they belonged. Scientists cloned a frog long before they ever cloned a large warm-blooded mammal like “Dolly.” Satan energized the reptile in could not yet clone, they quickly acknowledged a higher “finger” of power than that the Garden of Eden and the Egyptian magicians. He has energized many forms of life in all ages, and will do so in the future. I believe he is now energizing some TV evangelists who are willing to follow him today, as is indicated in II Timothy 3:6,7.

II Timothy 3:6,7 – For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, [7] Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

I feel it quite within the realm of possibility that the reptilian species of the many geological ages were Satan’s experimental clones of the original bios God created in Genesis 1:1. It is also conceivable that as each new species ran into a dead end by failing to progress into what Satan had in mind, it was subsequently eliminated by some great catastrophe, cast out or discarded to make room for another attempt to produce a species of bios that could rule over the earth as Satan’s representative. The earth’s crust bears testimony to many such catastrophic events during its long history. It is not unreasonable to assume Satan may have been able to ultimately produce a species of bios such as the hominoid findings of the Leakey family in the Olduvai Gorge of Tanzania, which roamed the earth millions of years ago. Satan may well have been able to produce a hairy bios creature with enough intelligence to develop a lifestyle with a strong self-preservation instinct. I do not even rule out the possibility that such a hairy bios creature may have attained sufficient intelligence to dig out shallow graves for its dead to eliminate the stench associated with bios decay, and to draw characters on cave walls, but these were not men created by God with souls – They were not zoe, they were creatures of bios life but not of bios indwelt by zoe, the breath of God. They were not living souls.

Genesis 2:7 – And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

The woman of Revelation 12:1, pictured as being clothed with the sun, standing on the moon, with a crown of 12 stars, is clearly identified by Joseph’s dream in Genesis 37:9-11. Joseph dreams of the sun as representing his father Jacob, who God renamed Israel, and from whose loins came the Nation of Israel. He pictures the moon as being the women who gave birth to the 12 sons of Israel. And the 12 stars are those 12 sons who propagated the Nation of Israel. The woman is definitely the Nation of Israel because this set of symbols appears only in Genesis 37 and Revelation 12, and one interprets the other. This woman, who represents Israel, is pictured as fleeing into “the wilderness” in Revelation 12:6, and I have proven in numerous previous updates, that “the wilderness” is the vast Negev Wilderness of southern Israel. This is part of the same area where Israel previously wandered for 40 years before being allowed to enter the Promised Land of the Exodus. She will once again be confined in the Negev Wilderness for 1260 days, after having been driven into it by an attack from Syria consisting of a confederation of Islamic nations. We are told in Daniel 11:41 that the King of the North will enter into “the glorious land” of Israel, but that the land of the descendants of Ammon, Moab, and Esau would be by-passed as he pushed Israel into the Negev. If you look on any map showing the areas inhabited by the descendants of these three men in 600 B.C., and then overlay it on a current day map, you will discover all three areas are within the borders of present day Jordan. So Jordan will not be attacked by the Islamic confederation of nations. Why? Because it is of no tactical, political, or geographical advantage to the King of the North. However, Egypt has all three of these advantages vested in the Suez Canal, her ports, and her water supply. So, after by-passing Jordan, and driving Israel into the Negev Wilderness, he will quickly veer to the west and conquer Egypt. More on this in updates to follow. At the recent Arab Summit Meeting, the first one held in a decade, Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia failed to concur with some of the boycotts against Israel, which were proposed by their Islamic counterparts. Egypt was also the first bordering Islamic nation to initiate peace with Israel. Egypt, according to Daniel 11:42,43, will pay a price for it when the Islamic hoard, led by Syria, charges across the northern Sinai to conquer her.

Israel’s message to Hamas: We control the escalation

Analysis: Decision to bomb entire areas in northern Gaza after warning residents indicates is aimed at signaling to Hamas that Israel is climbing one more step up the ladder.

On Saturday evening, after the first five days of Operation Protective Edge, armed Palestinian groups from Lebanon joined the fighting. The IDF was prepared for this option, but the goal will likely be to contain the event rather than escalate the situation.

Hezbollah was probably not involved in the rocket fire directed at Israel’s northern communities, but it’s possible that global jihad organizations – which have already done this before – participated in the rocket fire or even initiated it.

The Palestinians from the refugee camps in Lebanon fired two rockets at the Galilee Panhandle two days ago. The response was artillery fire at nowhere, the same as this time. With such a response, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah will not get involved. He is likely not interested in escalation on the border, especially while he is still entangled in the fighting in Syria.

In the meantime, in Gaza, the crushing of terror infrastructures and assets is increasing, while the first stage of the diplomatic process aimed at bringing about a ceasefire continues.

On the Palestinian side, Hamas and the Islamic Jihad are suffering and increasing the psychological warfare. Above all, the two organizations – which are waging the war as equals – are desperate to create awareness and reach an operational achievement which will allow them to negotiate a ceasefire from a position of power.

So far, such an achievement has slipped through their fingers time and again. The attempt to terrify Israel’s citizens and raise the spirits of Gaza’s residents after the meal breaking the Ramadan fast, by threatening to fire a new type of missiles at Tel Aviv, also appears pretty ridiculous right now.

The diplomatic move is not gaining momentum because both Israel and Hamas and the Jihad believe they have yet to utilize the operation to the fullest, and are still capable of dealing painful blows to the other side – and then negotiating from a position of power.

All kinds of negotiators have expressed their willingness to get involved, but the Egyptians were and remain the only factor which can still really talk to the two sides and bring about an agreement.

In fact, we are not just talking about an agreement between Israel and the Gazans, but about a square in which both the Egyptians and Mahmoud Abbas’ Palestinian Authority carry equal weight. Everyone has something to give and something to gain from a ceasefire agreement, but the Egyptians are the only ones capable of mediating.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is no longer considered a reliable factor in Israel’s eyes, and the Qataris – who consistently support Hamas – can only operate through Cairo. In the meantime, initial contact is being made while Israel and the terror organizations are sticking to their stances and won’t budge.

Israel’s intention appears to be to continue crushing Hamas from the air for at least two or three more days before the cabinet decides, if at all, to launch a ground operation and what kind of operation.

Until then, the decision to bomb entire areas in the northern Strip after warning the residents indicates a move from tweezers to a 5-kilogram hammer. The goal is not just a military one – moving from individual destruction to wholesale destruction – but is also aimed at signaling to Hamas that Israel is climbing one more step up the ladder, that “we control the escalation,” as a very senior officer has said.

As part of this control, the ground entry option has been prepared and the plans have been completed for several moves – starting from a small, quick maneuver, limited in time and length, to the occupation of the Strip for a relatively long period of time.

In any event, there is no intention of capturing the Strip and staying there for a long time, as right-wing politicians are suggesting. Right now, as far as Israel is concerned, it all depends on the achievements of the airstrikes, which have so far been successful.

Unlike Operation Cast Lead, and even more forcefully than Operation Pillar of Defense, the current operation emphasizes the active defense. The Iron Dome system has turned into a strategic factor which simply changes the military and diplomatic balance dramatically.

A second factor distinguishing Operation Protective Edge from its predecessors, again in favor of Israel, is Hamas’ harsh economic distress and political isolation. In the past, the Gazans knew they could engage in fighting and that in the end someone would broker a good “lull deal” for them and fund the restoration of the ruins. Now there isn’t even one mediator that the Gazans really trust and have faith in.

Most of the sponsors have also disappeared. It’s true that Iran will do everything in its power to rebuild the military infrastructure of the Islamic Jihad, which follows its orders, but the tunnels in Rafah are blocked by the Egyptian army.

The heads of Gaza’s terror organizations are aware of these facts, but are hoping for an Israeli mistake which will change the balance.

Pakistani Jihadi Groups Swear Oath Of Fealty To Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, The Rise Of Tahreek-e-Khilafat Wa Jihad (TKJ)

A series of recent reports have emerged in the media which show that Pakistani militants are swearing bai’yah (oath of fealty) to Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, who declared himself as the emir of the Islamic State, supposedly leading all Muslims across the world. The Islamic State (IS) is the new name for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a jihadi organization which broke away from Al-Qaeda and captured several cities in Iraq in June, 2014.

It should be noted that Pakistani militants – an estimate 200 of which are already working as part of IS in Iraq and Syria – swore an oath of fealty to Al-Baghdadi in at least two videos released several days before Al-Baghdadi declared himself as the emir of the Islamic State in an audio statement released on June 29, 2014. Additionally, a new jihadi group based in Pakistan has become prominent for declaring its allegiance to Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi: Tehreek-e-Khilafat Wa Jihad (TJK or the Movement for Caliphate and Jihad).

The June 29 declaration by Al-Baghdadi, which demanded oaths of fealty from Muslims, also marks a rift in the global jihadi movement. Until now, most of the jihadi groups from Chechnya to the Middle East and Africa, including Al-Qaeda and its slain leader Osama bin Laden, had expressed their loyalty to Mullah Mohammad Omar, calling him the Emir-ul-Momineen or the Leader of the Faithful Muslims, a title now assumed by Al-Baghdadi.

[44] And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.The conclusions that I draw from all these Scriptures is as follows:

(1) The Antichrist will only dominate the known world of John’s day.

(2) His empire will be weak because of a composition of nations that don’t hold together well.

(3) When an expression is used referring to the size of his empire in the book of Revelation it is used as a hyperbole, and does not refer to all the world as we know it today.

(4) I do not believe the mark of the beast will be put on residents of the western world.

(5) I do believe it will be put on in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Russia, and parts of Asia.The antichrist will certainly have influence in the nations of the western world, but he will not dominate them.I am certainly prepared to be wrong in my belief in the size of his empire and in the degree of his domination. In other words, I know the popular teachings of many men and women on this subject, and I am prepared for their antichrist, but are they prepared for mine?

Most of the believing world is prepared for an antichrist that arises in Europe and dominates the entire world as we know it today. The area of the size of his empire, as it is taught today, arose in the early 19th century, and was then solidified by most writers in the 20th century.

Daniel 7:23-25 – Thus he said, the fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. [24] And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. [25] And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. When a best selling book was written in the fifties about six emerging European Common Market nations, it began to cause many theologians to rapidly change their minds as to where the antichrist would eventually arise. Prior to that time most had believed he would arise out of the old Seleucid dynasty, which was formed by one of the generals who divided Alexander’s Grecian Empire into four sections. Many believed the Assyrian, in the fifth chapter of Micah, would be the antichrist, and that he would arise in, and come out of, modern day Syria.

Before the European Common Market theory arose, a majority believed antichrist would come out of the southern half of the old Roman Empire, rather than out of the European northern half. But the great popularity of the aforementioned book ascended to the highest levels of acceptability, and previous beliefs were dwarfed to obscurity. The book indicated that the six original members of the Common Market would soon be joined by four other nations to reach ten, and then be joined by the eleventh horn. He would be the antichrist of Daniel’s fourth beast in chapter seven. However, soon there were ten horns, then there were eleven, then more, then fifteen, and soon more will come to be added. But the astounding popularity of this book, and the thousands of preachers and other teachers who have taught it, have left a legacy, such that is difficult to convince the current generation they might not be correct in what they have taught, and are still teaching.

I have been concerned, since the book was first published, about the possibility it might cause many to be deceived when he does not arise in Europe, but in Syria. Quite frankly, I watch both Europe and Syria just like a hawk, and, if I do see him rising in Europe, I most assuredly will accept it. I am prepared for both. But many are so convinced he must come out of Europe, I doubt if anything would change their minds. In any case, in future updates I will show my reasons for believing he will come out of the Syria area.

I do not question that Europe will come down as part of the mass of many nations that join antichrist in Jerusalem for the final battle of Armageddon, but I am confident that the initial attack of the tribulation period will be by the antichrist leading Islamic nations against Israel.

CHRIST HAS PUT AWAY BELIEVER’S SINS BY HIS SACRIFICE

The character of Ishmael, the son of Hagar and Abraham, has indeed been passed on to his Arab descendents. They are like “wild asses” that dwell alongside their half brothers across the Middle East, having the same ancestor for a father, but a different mother. The words which describe Ishmael-like characteristics are found in the words spoken to Hagar by the angel of the Lord in Genesis 16:12.

Genesis 16:12 – And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

The promise of a land grant in Genesis 15:18 was not given to Ishmael, but to Isaac.

Genesis 15:18 – In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

Genesis 17:20,21 – And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. [21] But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.

The descendents of Ishmael fought among themselves and worshipped idols like the moon god until Muhammad united them into what is Islam today, but after the demise of the caliphate, formed by his immediate followers, it finally fell completely apart during the Ottoman Empire, and they have been at each others throats ever since. They have been iron and clay nations, a mingled (Arab) people, impossible to hold together long enough as a united body to defeat Israel. But that is changing by the spirit of Jihad, and soon ten Arab nations will unite. The Hebrew word translated as “mingle” in Daniel 2:43 is “Arab.”

Daniel 2:42-44 – And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. [43] And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, EVEN AS IRON IS NOT MIXED WITH CLAY. [44] And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

I agree with Jerome’s postulation. It will take an act of God to keep them together until the final battle of Armageddon, and they will turn on each other as the battle ends at Christ’s 2nd Advent.

Zechariah 14:12,13 – And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. [13] And it shall come to pass in that day, THAT A GREAT TUMULT FROM THE LORD SHALL BE AMONG THEM; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.

Jerome postulates that since clay and iron do not bond together, this kingdom is intrinsically weak. Unity is impossible and the kingdom is vulnerable because it seeks to unite elements that do not coalesce.

The kingdom set up by the God of heaven will be the kingdom of his Son, Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

It will take an act of God to keep the iron and clay “wild asses” of Ishmael descent from war with each other long enough to fight united against Israel.

God will put it in the hearts of the ten Islamic leaders to unite under a single leader, the Antichrist, and the clay and iron Arab nations shall hold together long enough to fulfill the words of God’s prophecy.

WHY WORRY ABOUT BEING MARTYRED BEFORE 7TH TRUMP?

Hudna is an Arabic term meaning a temporary “truce” or “armistice” as well as “calm” or “quiet”, coming from a verbal root meaning “calm”. It is sometimes mis-translated as “cease-fire”. In the Lisan al-Arab (Ibn al-Manzur’s definitive dictionary of classical Arabic, dating to the 14th century) it is defined as follows:

“hadana: he grew quiet. hadina: he quieted (transitive or intransitive). haadana: he made peace with. The noun from each of these is hudna.”

A particularly famous early hudna was the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah between Muhammad and the Quraysh tribe.

In English, the term is most frequently used in reference to a cease-fire agreement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly one that would involve organizations such as Hamas. The concept of hudna was introduced to the conflict by the Israeli businessman Eyal Erlich in 2001, after seeing a hudna being declared in order to calm a feud in Jordan (cf. Haaretz, January 2, 2002); he and some others proposed, unsuccessfully, that Israel should suggest a mutual hudna as a prelude to a more lasting peace.

Despite the Israeli government’s rejection of the idea, in summer 2003 — following pressure from Abu Mazen and Egypt — Hamas and Islamic Jihad unilaterally declared a 45-day ceasefire, or hudna. Its proponents commonly argued that such a cease-fire would allow hostility to die down and make a full reconciliation possible; its opponents commonly argued that it would be a mere tactical maneuver enabling Palestinian groups to re-group and muster their strength in preparation for further attacks on Israelis, or Israel to continue expanding settlements, blockading Palestinian towns, and arresting members of such groups. The hudna started on 29 June 2003.

In an IDF operation to arrest Hamas militants gunfight broke out in which an Israeli soldier and two alleged Hamas militants were killed. Hamas responded with a suicide bombing on August 12, killing one Israeli civilian. Fatah claimed responsibility for a second suicide bombing on August 12 killing another Israeli citizen. Despite this de facto violation of the hudna, Hamas stated that the cease-fire would continue. Hostilities then escalated: the Israeli army killed Islamic Jihad’s Muhammad Seeder on August 14; the Jerusalem bus 2 massacre by Hamas and Islamic Jihad on August 19, killed 23 and wounded 136 people ; and Israeli forces killed Hamas’s Ismail Abu Shanab on August 21. After the killing of the two high-ranking leaders, Hamas eventually called off the hudna.

In January 2004, senior Hamas leader Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi offered a 10-year hudna in return for complete withdrawal from all territories captured in the Six Day War, the establishment of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza, and the unlimited “right of return” for all Palestinian refugees into Israel. Rantissi said the hudna was limited to ten years and represented a decision by the movement because it was “difficult to liberate all our land at this stage; the hudna would however not signal a recognition of the state of Israel.” However, Hamas later repudiated this offer and claimed they would never recognize Israel or compromise on their position that Israel needed to dismantled and replaced by a single Palestinian state. The Hamas hudna offers are non-starters with Israel because they demand that Israel cede all of Eastern Jerusalem and accede to the right of return, two elements that have never been accepted by any Israeli governing coalition (whether it was led by liberals or conservatives). Hamas and its supporters have also tended to vary and/or lie about specific numbers related to potential hudna situations (Ian Lustick claimed a separate hudna offer by Hamas had been for a generation–which would equal 25 years–while the actual Hamas offer only covered a 5-year period), as well as making hudna offers when the group perceived itself to be taking losses in its conflict with Israel and eschewing them when it seemed that Israel was on the downside of said conflict. The historical legacy of the hudna concept also drive home a salient point: it was always intended as a way for a losing party to get time and regroup before rising to victory over its enemies.

The Principle and uses of skillful lying

The root word “taqiyya” means to protect against or conceal. As you might gather from the quotes above, the principle of al-Taqiyya is the Islamic justification for lying and deceiving. Al-Taqiyya is drawn explicitly from the words of Muhammad, and from the examples he and his successors set.

The Qur’an and other Islamic books condone lying, but they also praise truth-telling. Assuming for the moment these contradictory exhortations intend some salient point (a true assumption considering the principle in question), and assuming one principle hasn’t abrogated the other, approved lying must have a context. That is exactly what Islamic scholars say is the case.

Situations or purposes for which Islamic scholars collectively judge it to be permissible to lie include the following: to reconcile arguments, to settle family disputes, to settle arguments specifically with wives or women, to safeguard one’s “innocent” life (i.e., not for criminals on trial), to protect the lives of other Muslims, to defend one’s honor, to succeed in jihad or combat, and to spread the practice of Islam.

With the admission that Muslims may lie under many circumstances, trusting a Muslim involves a higher than average degree of risk. We’ll get into that later, but recognize that statements like the following only affirm that impression:

“It is not mandatory to practice it (al-Taqiyya) at all times; on the contrary, it is permissible, and sometimes necessary, to abandon it (al-Taqiyya) altogether; as in the case where revealing the truth will further the cause of the religion, and provide a direct service to Islam;” – al-Shaykh Muhammad Ridha al-Mudhaffar

In other words, ‘You don’t have to lie all the time; it’s okay, and even useful, to sometimes tell the truth’.

Not exactly a Sermon on the Mount-caliber message.

At what point is it permissible to start lying?

One point of contention between different Islamic sects is the stress point at which certain situations merit lying The web site al-Islam.org adds this Iranian perspective on when al-Taqiyya can and cannot be invoked:

It seems all Islamic sects agree that deception is good if it’s done to promote Islam. Yet concerning lesser matters, interpretations vary.

The Shi’a sect, for example, boasts of requiring a certain threshold of adversity before lying is justified. One Shi’a writer puts it “that Taqiyya must be practiced only when there is a definite danger which cannot be avoided and against which there is no hope of a successful struggle and victory.”

Sunnis believe that God decides when someone is going to die. Therefore, they believe it is wrong to deny the faith in order to escape torture or death. By contrast, the Shi’a and some Sunnis believe that life is a gift from God and should be preserved…preservation of life takes precedence over anything else…

However, Islamic groups or sects with the strictest thresholds, i.e., are least quick to condone lying, are the more intolerant and western-hating practitioners of Islam. Shia-dominant Iran might be of an example of this. Their President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the last string of Ayatollahs have certainly not been the kind of persons one has had to goad, “Tell me what you really think.”

It all begs the question, “In dealing with Islam, should we feel more comfortable dealing with…

A.) those most-likely-to-lie-to-us groups or persons who say they want to be our friends, or …

B.) those most-likely-to-tell-us-the-truth groups or persons who say they want us wiped off the face of the earth?”

Answer that question well and maybe you should run for President.

The practice of hudna

Hudna is an Arabic term that technically translates into “calm” or “truce”, as in a truce struck between two warring nations. But a hudna is not just any truce or ceasefire. A hudna is a “tactical truce” that has it’s beginnings with Muhammad:

In the year 628 AD, when surmising that his [Mohammed’s] forces were too weak to overcome the rival Kuraysh tribes, the Prophet Mohammed concluded a ten-year truce accord with the Kuraysh. This agreement became known as the Hudaybiyya Accord, after the place where it was signed. Yet, less than two years later, having consolidated their power, the Muslim forces attacked the Kuraysh tribes and defeated them, allowing Mohammed to conquer the city of Mecca.

Since that time, the term Hudna has been understood by Muslims as a tactical cease-fire that is intended only to allow a shift the balance of power. Once the balance of power has shifted, and the groundwork has been laid for a Muslim victory, the truce can then be broken.

Hudna is the battlefield or political application of al-Taqiyya. It’s purpose is to give the illusion of desiring peace while actively masking a rethinking, regrouping, or rearming when faced with a superior opponent. The above citation was from EmbassyofIsrael.org, obviously experienced in the typical course of Islamic ceasefires. Here is one from Omdurman.org on the same subject affirming a kind of deception that is fundamental to Islam:

What is being touted as a ‘cease-fire’ is something called a ‘hudna.’ A hudna [also known as a hudibiyya or khudaibiya] is a tactical cease-fire that allows the Arabs to rebuild their terrorist infrastructure in order to be more effective when the “cease-fire” is called off.

The awful short of it all

The acceptance among Muslims that lying is permissible, encouraged, sometimes obligatory, and diversely applied, means one should be more cautious than usual when considering to trust them. I know that’s a horrible blanket charge to make against any group of people. It’s only tempered by the fact that all Muslims cannot agree on when and at what point one should start lying.

How do we know which set of “lying circumstances” are acceptable to any given Muslim we may be speaking with? We could ask, but could we believe their answer?

Consider the beginnings of Islam when a spiritual being is said to have confronted Muhammad in a dark cave. In that blackness, the being extolled the virtues of that which would become Islam. Muslims say that a lie to further Islam is acceptable, so by that reasoning there is no guarantee that the being didn’t lie to Muhammad. It furthered Islam, did it not? If one can tell lies to further Islam, then there is no basis for believing anything good you’re told about the religion. I’m not saying there’s nothing good about it, I’m just pointing out the impossibility of trusting a system that openly embraces lying and falsehood as key doctrines.

A consensus view among Muslims today, as much as there is one, is that all the world is a legitimate battlefield upon which Islam should compete and win out as the dominate worldview. No problem – most ideologies compete for dominance like that. But in this battlefield context, the doctrine of al-Taqiyya is justifiable in virtually every situation, and at least radical Muslims exercise it in exactly that way.

Muslims may not all agree when to invoke al-Taqiyya, but they cannot deny that the whole world is an ideological field of battle. What ideology can claim to be moral AND declare the whole world combatants to whom they can unashamedly lie? Answer: Islam.

These doctrines of strategic lying and deception, al-Taqiyya and hudna, showcase the dangerous nature of Islam as much as does the wife beating, honor killing, beheading, and other such practices that the religion embraces. The only thing positive about the doctrines is that they are so integral to the Qur’an and practice of Islam that they cannot be hidden. We know about them, and now knowing we can and should take them into account. Weigh very cautiously what Muslims and Muslim nations are telling us and trying to get us to believe, especially in regard to so-called peace treaties and treaties concerning nuclear weapons.

Matthew 28:18 – And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Revelation 17:17 – For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

Ezekiel 38:1,2 – “And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, [2] Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him.” Gog (high extension) appears for the first time in Ezekiel. He is the Antichrist of whom so much has been written. Please note that he is identified as the “chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.” Many commentators, especially in the last 100 years, have not identified him as the Antichrist, but have identified him as the ruler or chief prince of the land of Magog, which I do not believe Scripture justifies. Before the 20th Century, many identified him as the Antichrist. In verse 2 Ezekiel is told to set his face against two separate things, a person and a place. The person is Gog (Antichrist), and the place is the land of the descendants of Magog where it existed in Ezekiel’s day. If we do not locate the territories of Magog, Meshech, and Tubal as they existed in Ezekiel’s day, then we can have no idea as to where the Antichrist will soon rear his head, or the area from which his attack will be launched. Why? Because more than 2500 years have slipped by since Ezekiel wrote his prophecies, and the bloodlines of all three men been distributed across the entire planet. In order to correctly identify the area from whence Antichrist will attack Israel, we must identify where the descendants of Meshech and Tubal were residing in 500 and 600 B.C. Why? Because the Antichrist is not the chief prince of Magog, he is the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. He will come from the area where their descendants were settled in 500 and 600 B.C.

I will attempt to use two different sources to locate where the descendants of Meshech and Tubal were clustered at the time of Ezekiel’s writings. The first is found in the 27th chapter of Ezekiel, and the second is from the Assyrian monument stones of that period. Ezekiel 27:3 – “And say unto Tyrus, O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord God; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty.” Tyrus (Tyre) was a seaport on the southern coast of what we know today as Lebanon, which is directly north of Israel. Tyrus built its first great sea wall to protect its harbored ships more than 3000 years ago, and was a thriving seaport in Ezekiel’s day. Its ships carried merchandise from the countries of the east across all the Mediterranean, and even as far north as the shores of the English Channel. Zidon (Sidon) was also a sea port, and less than 20 miles separated the two cities. The wise men of Tyrus were the navigators of the ships, and the men of Zidon were the deck hands, as portrayed in Ezekiel 27:8 – “The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots.” Now, bearing all this in mind, let us look at Ezekiel 27:13 – “Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass in thy market.” Meshech and Tubal were warlike tribes, who often took their captives (persons of men) and the vessels of brass they had captured, or hammered out themselves, and carried them to the NEAREST seaport for trading. The captives were, of course, loaded on the ships and sold as slaves in foreign ports of trade. Why the NEAREST seaport? Because, in Ezekiel’s day, travel was by foot, donkey, camel, and horse. People always carried their trading goods to the nearest port, particularly slaves. Therefore, I conclude that Meshech and Tubal must have roamed in the area we know today as Syria, Lebanon, northwestern Iraq, and southern Turkey. Meshech and Tubal are the Mushki and Tabali of the Assyrian stone monuments. In the time of Sargon and Sennacherib (700 B.C.) the territory of Tubal adjoined southern Cilicia, while that of Meshech filled the highlands to the east of Tubal. Considering the locations derived from the Bible and stone tablets, it appears that the Antichrist, as the chief prince of the area once occupied by Meshech and Tubal, is likely to arise, and eventually to attack Israel, from Syria or Lebanon. And, since Lebanon is virtually controlled by Syria, it makes Greater Syria the territory the land from which Gog will arise.

The Power of God will pull the Islamic Antichrist down from his Greater Syria Caliphate. The Antichrist is Gog who is the Chief Prince of Meshech and Tubal. God will put hooks in his jaws and drag him south into Israel as far south as the city of Beersheba. Israel will remain surrounded in the vast Negev Wilderness for some 3 and ½ years. The Antichrist will lead a fully equipped high tech military force. The weapons in Ezekiel 38 & 39 were high tech for that day.

Ezekiel 38:3,4 – And say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: [4] And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

I established, from the Scriptures and the Assyrian stone monuments, that the descendants of Meshech and Tubal, at the time Ezekiel wrote his prophecies, were primarily located in what we know as Syria and Lebanon. We also established that the prophecy is again a person, Gog (Antichrist), and against a land, the land of Magog. I am convinced that the Antichrist will attack Israel from Syria. Now, what about the “land of Magog?” Where were the Magogites located at the time of Ezekiel’s writings? Flavius Josephus, the noted Jewish historian makes the following statements concerning the Magogites in Antiquities of the Jews, Chapter VI, under the title, HOW EVERY NATION WAS DENOMINATED FROM THEIR FIRST INHABITANTS: “Japhet, the son of Noah, had seven sons.” “They called the nations by their own names.” “Magog founded those that from him were called Magogites, but who by the Greeks were called Scythians.” The Greek writers of the Classic Age said the Scythians occupied the area which today we identify as stretching from Moldova eastward across the Ukraine, southern Russia, and then into Kazakhstan, then southward into Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan – Roughly the area north of the Black Sea, between the Black and Caspian Seas, and the area northwest, north, and northeast of the Caspian Sea. I do not believe the nations in this area will join in the initial attack against Israel, but I am certain they will come down for the final battle of Gog’s war, which is the Battle of Armageddon. The Battle of Armageddon, found in Revelation 16:16, is the final battle in Gog’s war, which began 3 and ½ years earlier.

Verse 3 fails to include the “land of Magog,” and is a message directly pointed, and personally addressed, against the Antichrist Gog, who once again is identified as the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. Popular writers in the last century brought a teaching into play that is simply not true. They said the word “chief” was “rosh” in the Hebrew language, which is true. But they said it meant “Russian,” which is not true. The Russian and Hebrew language have never overlapped in history to support such a claim. He is not a Russian prince. He is the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, most likely having a Syrian father. The word “rosh,” in the KJV, is translated as “chief” 90 times, as “head” 349 times, as “top” 75 times, as “beginning” 14 times, as “company” 12 times, as “captain” 10 times, as “sum” 9 times, as “first” 6 times, as “principle” 5 times, as “chief man” 4 times, and as “ruler” on two occasions. At no time, in all of history, could it legitimately be identified as someone who is a Russian.

I’m convinced the chief prince of Meshech & Tubal will come from northwestern Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, or southern Turkey. He will be the leader of a multilateral Arab force that will carry out a surprise attack against Israel from the north. I believe this is spoken of in Revelation 17:12,13 – “And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. [13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.”

I have established a case to show that the Antichrist is likely to arise in Syria, and will launch his initial attack again Israel from that position. Although he will have the support of ten Arab nations, I believe the nations directly involved in the attack will be Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Turkey, and Iran. Now, let us continue from Ezekiel 38:4 – “And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords.” This portrays a man overtaking a fleeing beast, putting hooks into its jaws, then turning and pulling it along a path the man desires to lead it. The Antichrist will have no choice in this matter. God creates political and economic circumstances whereby he must come down at exactly the appointed time. I protest the efforts of some commentators to take the weapons of Ezekiel’s day, and attempt to carry them into our day and time. Suppose God had inspired Ezekiel to write 1020 tanks, 923 MIG JETS, 3283 katyusha launchers, 12000 katyusha rockets, 723 SAM shoulder held launchers with 4673 SAM’s, and 2073 flamethrowers. The Ezekiel’s day readers would have laughed him to scorn. I am persuaded that God meant for our final generation to picture a great, mighty, army, fully armed to the teeth with all the known modern weapons of warfare.

Verse 5 names three of the peoples from which the Antichrist will draw his initial attacking horde: “Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:” Persia was basically the peoples east of the Euphrates, which today would be Iran and Iraq. Libya corresponds with the location of modern day Libya. And Ethiopia in Ezekiel’s day was made up mostly of what we call Sudan today. Once again the point is made that they will be fully armed for all out war.

Verse 6 continues to name the peoples of Ezekiel’s day from which he will draw his support, and by knowing where they lived at that time, we can at least attempt to identify those nations that occupy these areas today: “Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.” Quite frankly, I have searched, and researched, the writings of many historians, both ancient and modern, and, in the end, knowing that honesty is the best policy, I can only say that there is a wide diversity of opinion. Up to this point, as regards the locations of Magog, Meshech, Tubal, Persia, Libya, and Ethiopia, I have presented a case from both the Scriptures and historical records, which I believe is substantial. But in the case of Gomer, and the house of Togarmah, as to where they were settled in Ezekiel’s day, I can only give a rough approximation.

The house of Togarmah and the descendants of Gomer were sandwiched between the Magogites (Scythians) to the north, and Meshach, Tubal, and Persia to the south. They stretched from west to east across modern day Turkey into the area south of the Caucasus Mountains, and through extreme northern Iraq and Iran.
